Pupils from more schools of Moldova present innovations at national contest: Renewable Energy Sources

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ – About 60 pupils from 26 schools presented their eco innovations at final stage of Republican competition "Renewable Energy Sources" today, held at the Theoretical High School Liviu Deleanu in Chisinau on 11 – 12 May.
At its second issue, contest is organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), in partnership with the Energy and Biomass Project.
Interviewed by agency, Deputy Head of the General Education Directorate of MECC, Mariana Goras, said that the purpose of contest is to promote best energy projects with use of renewable energy resources for benefit of Moldova. According to cited source, there were selected participants in final stage after local/regional competition. The competition could include schools connected to biomass heating systems from the European funds of the Energy and Biomass Project, as well as pupils from the 7th to 9th forms studying optional discipline "Renewable Energy Sources".
The wind turbine built from recycled materials that generate electricity, parabolic antennas lined with mirrors that can be an alternative to the cooker, Stirling parabolic dish, which reduces energy consumption, methane gas production equipment from organic substances, bus station powered by photovoltaic panels – these are some of works of the students enrolled in final stage of competition.
The pupils Nadejda Tudorean and Ecaterina Drumov from Palanca secondary school, Stefan Voda, led by their teacher Ana Olari, presented a project of using energy of earth for winter heating of educational institution, and in the summer, same energy does cool. "To heat the Palanca school, there are needed MDL 350,000 to mount the geothermal probes," said Professor Ana Olari.
At his turn, a student at High School Constantin Stere in Soroca, Andrei Lupascu, said that he built a parabolic dish with a Stirling engine that transforms solar energy into electric and thermal energy. "All class worked out the facility. It is intended for peasant households," said Andrei Lupascu.
The pupils which passed the Republican stage of Renewable Energy Sources Competition will receive a participation ticket at the ENERGEL Summer Camp, 2018. The winners of the National Competition, selected by a jury composed of representatives of MECC, the Agency Energy Efficiency, Energy and Biomass Project, social initiative "Hai, Moldova" will receive merit diplomas and eco awards.
