Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) has allowed today fishing of the Danube and Ribbons (a species of scrubby living in the Black Sea, from where they migrate to the Danube for reproduction and food), on the lower course of the Dniester River, the Palanca village, Stefan Voda district, and the dam of the Dubăsari hydro power plant, as well as the Turunciuc arm.
According to a ministry order, fishermen are only allowed to fish for these two fish species. In the rest of the water basins in the country, the prohibition regime, valid until the end of June, remains in force.
In the prohibition period, any type of fishing shall be prohibited, except for scientific fishing. The ban does not apply to private aquatic basins. The prohibition of fishing is carried out every year and aims to ensure optimum conditions for the reproduction, protection, restoration and conservation of aquatic biological resources.
Interviewed by agency, sources from the Fisheries Department of MADRM, said that the employees of the institution would supervise observance of prohibition regime. The infringements include penalties which, depending on gravity, can be both administrative and criminal. The fines are stipulated in Article 114 of the Code of Conduct and may vary 06 – 12 contravention units for individuals.
According to the cited sources, most demanded species for fishing in Moldova are bloody, blooming, reddish, scrubby of the Danube, carp, sleep, etc.
