Moldovan parliament speaker meets visitors of European Town

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ - The most imposing and ambitious model of development of the world is the one of the European Union and for several years already, the European Town has been giving possibility to Moldova’s citizens to see, feel and hear what each member state means. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has made statements to this effect at an official ceremony of opening of the European Town 2018 in Chisinau.
The parliament’s communication and public relations department reported that, according to the speaker, tens of years EU had developed to become the second market of the world in terms of power and values. “The EU member states are so different, but so united through their diversity and democratic values promoted, including the ones dealing with the observance of law, rule of law state, work of strong institutions and fundamental human rights and freedoms, civil society and press freedom,” the parliament speaker noted.
Andrian Candu also said that Moldova was also tending to this development model and the Moldovans had been travelling to EU freely for four years. “Day after day, by work, diligence and patience, we integrate into EU,” the speaker stressed.
“This year, EU continues the nice tradition of promotion of the cultures of the member states not only in Chisinau, but also in Cahul, Balti, Comrat, Drochia, Ungheni, where European Towns will be organized as well,” Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Peter Michalko said.
The parliament speaker, along with MPs, ministers, ambassadors made a tour of the European Town.
Afterwards, Andrian Candu went to the parliament’s informative tent, where he discussed with people who came to the event, answered questions and requests by visitors, unveiled information on the parliament’s work and provided informative materials about the parliament. Also, Candu welcomed winners of a contest of photos organized by the parliament, titled, EU sunt Europa, (I am Europe), whose works were displayed in the tent.
For the second year in the row, the parliament participated in the European Town with an informative tent. At the same time, for the first time ever, the parliament will have an informative tent in the European Town from Ungheni, due on 19 May 2018. The event was organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova, in partnership with the public authorities and diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova.
