Israel wins song contest Eurovision, Moldova ranks on tenth position

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ – Israel won issue of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2018 with song: Toy, performed by Netta Barzilai within competition grand final, which took place on 12 May evening in Liasabona, Portugal. The singer accumulated a total of 529 points.
The second place took Cyprus and on the third position held Austria.
DoReDos represented Moldova in contest with song: My Lucky Day, which ranked 10th, earning 209 points. The maximum score from specialised jury, Moldova got from Russia – 12 points. Also, Moldova received 10 points from jury of Cyprus, Armenia and Greece each. Croatia and Montenegro scored 8 points, Azerbaijan, Armenia, San Marino and Romania – 7 points, Slovenia – 6 points and Albania and Australia – 2 points.
Artists from 26 countries participated within issue 63 of the Eurovision Song Contest, hosted in 2018 by capital of Portugal, Lisbon.
The founding countries of competition – France, Germany, Spain, Great Britain and Italy were qualified directly into final, along with host country, Portugal, but voted, according to draw, in semifinals.
ESC is an international music competition, organised by European Broadcasting Union (EBU), largest public television association in Europe. The show has become one of worldwide longest and most watched television programmes, broadcast constantly for over 60 years.
In 2017, representatives of Moldova, members of band: SunStroke Project, ranked the 3rd position at Eurovision, with song: Hey Mamma. It is best performance of Moldova at Eurovision contest. Moldova has participated in it since 2005. Then, Zdob si Zdub ranked the 6th.
