Chisinau-based Court of Appeal maintains ruling on removing SHOR party's candidate from race for mayor office

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Court of Appeal has upheld today decision of first court to remove for SHOR party's candidate, Reghina Apostolova, from electoral race for leadership of Chisinau municipality.
The decision of magistrates of the Court of Appeal was taken after lawyers of Reghina Apostolova challenged the decision of the first instance court.
Interviewed by agency, spokeswoman for the Court of Appeal, Octeabrina Popa, said that "the Magistrates' decision can be appealed to the Supreme Court within three days."
The request for exclusion from electoral race of candidate of SHOR Party was filed by the Chisinau District Electoral Council, which accepted notification of the National Unity Party (PUN) on illegal financing by foreign citizens of Shor's candidate. Similarly, Reghina Apostolova was accused of using image of a foreign citizen in an electoral spot.
Reghina Apostolova and her lawyers rejected accusations and qualified magistrates' decision as illegal.
After exclusion of Reghina Apostolova, eleven candidates have remained in electoral race for leadership of Moldovan capital.
