Prizes of Grigore Vieru International Poetry Festival awarded

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - The first day of the tenth issue of the Grigore Vieru International Poetry Festival, held in Chisinau on 14-15 May and in Iasi, Romania, on 16-17 May, ended with a ceremony on awarding prizes at the Chisinau-based Licurici Republican Puppet Theatre.
At the same time, a homage show took place at the theatre, held by singer Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici, artistic bands from the ARTICO Republican Centre for Children and Youth, as well as from more lyceums of Chisinau. The event was moderated by actor Nicolae Jelescu, who also unveiled pages from Grigore Vieru’s works.
The Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute awarded three prizes. Thus, a poet and editor from Iasi, Daniel Corbu, was awarded the Grant Prize for poetry worth 800 euros; a literary critic and historian, Ion Pop from Cluj, Romania, took a prize of excellence for literary critic (500 euros); at the same time, singer Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici was awarded the prize of excellence for artistic singing worth also 500 euros. The Chisinau city hall also awarded a prize for the artistic turning to good account of the works by Grigore Vieru. The prize was handed to actor, stage manager Nicolae Jelescu.
Today, a scientific symposium titled, Grigore Vieru - Man of Sunday, is held at the Academy of Sciences (ASM). Also today, a literary and artistic event, Grigore Vieru – Poet of Union, organized by the Cultural League for the Unity of Romanians Everywhere, Chisinau branch, takes place nearby the monument, Writer of Union, in Truseni, Chisinau municipality.
On 16 and 17 may, the events dedicated to Grigore Vieru will continue in Iasi.
The tenth issue of the Grigore Vieru International Poetry Festival is organized by the Grigore Vieru Cultural and Scientific Centre, Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute, Chisinau city hall, Iasi city hall, Moldova’s Academy of Sciences, Moldovan Writers’ Union, Ion Creanga National Library for Children and other culture institutions.
