Moldovan MPs discuss on reconciling family, professional life on International Family Day

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ – The performance work is influenced by emotional state and stress of employees. In this sense, institutions need to adapt to their needs by providing them with support programmes that would help reconcile family and professional life. The declaration belongs to head of Commission of social protection, healthcare and family of Parliament, Valentina Buliga, and it was made today at round table: "The balance of professional life – family life: experiences and perspectives", organised by Parliament of Moldova on occasion of International Family Day.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, the event brought together representatives of public and private environment in leadership positions: MPs, diplomats, members of civil society, gender experts, teachers, entrepreneurs, etc.
The chair of the Parliamentary Commission of social protection, healthcare and family said that reconciliation of work activity and private, family life must be recognised as a fundamental right. Also, MP said that policies that can contribute to it refer to flexibility of work programme, provision of assistance services for employees with juvenile children or persons in their care, in particular nurseries, kindergartens, child care services, working from home, facilities of children in institutions/businesses where parent works, etc.
"These actions are pillars that underpin principle of harmonisation of work and family life, promoted by EU and towards which Moldova also tends," said Valentina Buliga.
The participants in discussion were welcomed by deputy head of Parliament, Valeriu Ghiletchi, that appreciated subject and stated that it is very important to know that there is a balanced attitude between family and professional life, especially among women. "The actions are needed to motivate women to engage actively in public and social life, without prejudging family time," said deputy head of Parliament.
The salutations addressed to participants made Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Moldova, Signe Burgstaller, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Moldova Resident Representative, Dafina Gercheva, President of the Association of Women Entrepreneurship of Moldova, Otilia Dragutanu.
During the day, there will take place discussions in three panels: "The reconciliation of professional life with family life in Moldova: myth or reality", "The policy response on ensuring balance between professional life and family life", "Good practices and positive experiences with reconciliation of work and family life in public and private environment." The moderators of talks are MPs Elena Gudumac, Valentina Stratan and Alina Zotea – Durnea.
The Round Table is organised in context of International Family Day, marked on 15 May each year, as to raise awareness of family issues and social, economic and demographic processes affecting the family.
The event is organised by Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Healthcare and Family in partnership with Joint Deputy Platform of Ladies MPs of the Parliament of Moldova, with support of UN development partners and Swedish Embassy in Moldova.
