Moldovan premier meets representatives of local business

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, and representatives of over 40 large domestic producers have discussed the problems of business environment and modes of their solving during a meeting today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Premier emphasised that dialogue and collaboration with business environment are essential pillars of work of the Government and the key to success in creating a favourable investment climate. "Help us to secure together a more attractive business environment," said Pavel Filip.
The head of Executive said that he has always opted for an open dialogue with businesspeople, as to find out from first source upon problems they face and select in common solutions as to overcome them. Thus, the Economic Council was strengthened by the Prime Minister, which has increased to 71 members, 34 of which are business associations. There have been developed and promoted several initiatives to support business on this platform.
Pavel Filip has expressed gratitude for that constructive collaboration and reviewed main reforms of Government. Among these are: reducing number of permissive documents from 416 to 151. Similarly, implementation of unique booth for permissive acts is completed, which will further reduce human factor and costs for business. Since June, the first 25 papers will be available throughout it.
The reform of state control is on the last hundred metres. The number of control bodies has been reduced from 57 to 18, and the electronic register of controls will be released shortly. "The controls will be predictable, transparent and no longer a burden, but on the contrary they will help the economic agent," Pavel Filip stressed.
The approval of amendments to the Labor Code was another important issue discussed, in particular introduction of more flexible employment and redundancy conditions. Simultaneously, a new Labour Code is being developed, which will further liberalize labour market and stimulate the creation of businesses and jobs.
Pavel Filip also referred towards pro – business package, judicial reform, anticorruption actions and banking system. "Sure, we want to do more. But I firmly believe that the undertaken actions so far have laid foundations for sustainable economic development," said PM, inviting business people to an interactive discussion.
The business representatives thanked for possibility to have this discussion with the Government and talked about issues that create impediments to business development. Among those are: shortage of skilled workers, exporters' losses due to strengthening of national currency, wage and procurement issues, export of animal products on EU market and liberalisation of car transport market. There occurred more proposals, such as exempting employers from paying taxes on employment of young specialists, which would stimulate training of qualified staff.
Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, appreciated sincere and constructive character of discussions and mentioned that rational proposals from business to be taken into account until drafting of Govenment Decisions or respective draft laws. Also, the PM said that problems and opinions presented within meeting would be examined thoroughly by the Economic Council as to identify optimal solutions.
