Last days' rains destroy almost 300 ha of agricultural crops, vineyards, orchards in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - The heavy rains of the last days have destroyed almost 300 ha of agricultural crops, vineyards and orchards, according to data by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).
The IGSU press officer, Liliana Puscasu, said that more farmlands had been hit in the districts of Calarasi and Drochia by the rains of the last days.
“The precipitation and hail destroyed 28 hectares of orchards and 11 hectares of vineyards in the settlement of Pirjolteni, as well as 70 ha of orchards in the Horodiste village, Calarasi district. Areas were affected also in the Drochia district, where the bad weather destroyed over 180 ha of sugar beet. The territorial commissions for emergency situations work in areas to assess the material damage,” Puscasu noted.
According to data by the State Hydrometeorological Service, rains and maximum air temperatures of +25 Celsius degrees and minimum ones of +13 degrees are forecast for the next three days. The rains will cease in the week-end and the air temperatures will slightly rise.
