Moldovan capital holds runoff ballot of mayor general

Chisinau, 03 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Chisinau citizens are expected today at the polls to elect their general mayor of runoff ballot. After new local elections on 20 May, Ion Ceban, a candidate from Socialists' party (PSRM), which won 40.97 per cent of vote, and Andrei Nastase, candidate from Party Platform Dignity and Truth (PPDA) for which voted 32.12 per cent of voters. The winner in runoff ballot will be the candidate which will get highest number of votes.
The polling stations opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announces voters having questions on organisation and conduct of second round of new local elections can call the info line (+373) 22 88 01 01, which runs today from 06:00 to midnight 24:00.
For the second round of voting in Chisinau, there were printed 634,547 ballots, out of which 408,080 in Romanian and 226,467 in Russian. The ballot length is 124 mm and width is 140 mm. The printing of ballots cost MDL 106,603.
