Poet Marcela Benea celebrates 70th anniversary

Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/- Poet, journalist and book editor Marcela Benea today celebrated the 70th anniversary.
She was born on 4 June 1948 in Varatic village, Rascani district. In 1972 she graduated from the State University of Moldova, Faculty of Philology. She was a teacher of Romanian language and literature (1972-1974), editor of “”Cartea Moldovenească” publishing house (1975-1976), literary editor at the Chisinau Philharmonic (1976-1977) and senior editor at the State Committee for television and radio-broadcasting (1977-1986).
She collaborated on publications: ”Moldova”, ”Nistru”, ”Literatura și Arta”, ”Tinerimea Moldovei”, ”Glasul Națiunii”, ”Contrafort”, ”Revista Română”, ”Litere” (Târgoviște), ”Hyperion” (Botoșani), ”Beletra Almanaco” (USA), ”Lichtungen” (Vienna, Austria) and others.
In 2016, she was proposed by the Moldovan Writers’ Union to the National Prize. In 2017, the Chisinau municipal Olympiad on Romanian language and literature was dedicated to poems by Marcela Benea.
The lyrics of Marcela Benea have been translated into Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Latvian, Armenian, Georgian and German. In 1966, she was awarded the first prize at the Moscow poetry festival and in 2008 – prize of the Moldovan Writers’ Union.
