Info system for waste management to be set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 05 June /MOLDPRES/ – For a more efficient waste management, the Government today approved the Concept of Automated Information System (CSIA) Management of Wastes, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The document provides for accumulation of waste info in an electronic register that will provide evidence of generated and collected waste stream, including data on export, import, reuse and disposal of waste. The info for completing register will be provided by authorised economic operators within field of waste management. The digitisation of info will improve activity of operators into sector.
The waste management database will be accessible to public authorities, entrepreneurs and individuals. It will facilitate exchange of info between public authorities concerned, but also with European Environment Agency (EEA). It will be also ensured continuous and strict risk monitoring.
The creation of info resource will facilitate implementation of the European classification of waste list, including hazardous waste, allowing collection and processing of waste data according to codes established in EU.
In this context, Premier Pavel Filip asked Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM) to develop as soon as possible a national waste management strategy. "Any info system does not solve the problem, it is a tool that helps to be more operative and order things. We are awaiting waste management strategy, without which this info system will not have substance," said the head of Executive.
