Moldovan delegation to JCC condemns repeated violation of security zone regime

Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Moldovan delegation to Joint Control Commission (CUC) condemns repeated violation of Security Zone (ZS) regime.

According to the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service, at abound 04:00 and then at 06:30, 11:15 and 13:15 on road Dubasari – Grigoriopol – Tiraspol, the unannounced movement of four columns of armoured technical units and auto – military vehicles of GOTR: almost 11 TABs and 25 lorries (URAL, ZIL, UAZ). There were no distinctive signs of belonging to GOTR or peacekeeping operation on respective units, as well as registration plates.

According to available info, these units are part of three columns (about 40 units) that on 21 June morning this year went unauthorized to ammunition warehouse at Cobasna, Rabniţa district, accompanied by special automobiles of unconstitutional militia structures.

Subsequently, Russian representatives motivated the movement of military staff through need to increase deposit security measures as a result of indications received from leadership of the Russian Defence Ministry in context of possible acts of terrorism and possible challenges during World Football Championship.

At the beginning of 23 June morning, the Moldovan delegation in CUC called for urgent summoning of military observers of components of CUC (representatives of Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Tiraspol) which moved at 05:30 in districts of Dubasari and Grigoriopol (near Dubasari bridge, Dorotcaia and Malaiesti villages) to document the situation. At the insistence of Moldovan side, representatives of OSCE Mission to Moldova, which at 06:20 fixed displacement of 4 URAL lorries and a military inspection unit, were present at site, and at 07:15 the same units were observed in Malaiesti village, Grigoriopol district. At request of military observers to stop movement of these units, in order to carry out the regular control, they did not react in any of the way.

The Delegation of Moldova to CUC is strongly alarmed about these provocative actions and flagrant violation by Russia of ZS regime, implicitly of Moldovan – Russian Agreement of 21 July 1992. Such Agreement defiance repeated within recent days, without announcement the Moldovan authorities or mechanisms existing in process of peaceful settlement of Transnistrian conflict.

The Delegation of Moldova to CUC calls upon all components of Commission and Joint Military Command (CMI) of peacekeeping operation to act in strict accordance with agreed understandings within Transnistrian settlement process and ensure respect of ZS regime.
