Craftsmen across Moldova gather at national costume day in Chisinau

Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ – The third issue of the National Costume Day, has taken place today at the Palace of the Republic and on territory in Chisinau, brought together craftsmen from all over the country.
The feast was extended throughout the country. Thus, in 45 localities from 14 districts of Moldova, including Gagauzia, there were set cultural activities, which highlighted local and national models of folk costume, richness of embroidery ornaments and styles, as well as craft fairs and traditional cuisine. At previous issue, it was organised in 19 localities of Moldova.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC). The celebration purpose is to capitalise authentic Romanian folk costume and cohabiting ethnic groups, know costume components, its symbols and promote techniques of making it popular at national and international levels. This year, it was organised and held with support of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Moldova Competitiveness Programme supported by USAID Moldova and Government of Sweden, Romanian Cultural Institute Mihai Eminescu in Chisinau.
The first issue of the National Costume Day took place in 2016.
