Heavy rains affected hundreds of hectares of agricultural crops, roads

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/- Heavy rains of the past few days have affected hundreds of hectares of crops, vineyards and orchards, flooded cellars and destroyed roads.
The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior, Liliana Puscasu, said that in Gagauzia rainfall affected agricultural land in Comrat and in the villages of Carbalia, Congazcic and Besalma.
“In Comrat, 37 hectares of vineyards, 41 hectares of orchards, 10 hectares of sunflower and 45 hectares of corn were affected. In Congazcic - the rain destroyed 50 hectares of vineyards, 120 hectares of dumbbells, and 200 hectares of maize and sunflower, and in Bessalma the rainfall damaged local road. Damages were recorded in the villages of Milestii Mici and Costesti, Ialoveni district, and in Susleni, Orhei,” Puscasu said.
The owners of several households in Hancesti district and Chisinau municipality needed the intervention of the firefighters, where the rescuers carried out water pumping works from basements and the gardens. "In areas affected by rainfall territorial emergency commissions work in order to assess the material damage," Puşcaşu said.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, in the coming days the sky will be variable, with the maximum of +26 degrees Celsius. Rainfall is expected on 27 June throughout the country.
