Moldovan National Army's KFOR-9 contingent starts trainings in Kosovo

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - The ninth contingent of the National Army, detached to the KFOR operation, has started trainings in Kosovo.
The contingent’s commander, Veaceslav Balan, said that Moldovan officers and sub-officers, along with Italian ones, were trained by their colleagues from Hungary. Balan noted that the group of sappers had started trainings too. They carry out, along with servicemen from Slovenia and Italy, meetings on the danger of unexploded ammunitions in the Kosovo region and actions in case of discovering them.
According to Veaceslav Balan, on the period of the mission, the National Army’s military will carry out operations of patrol, guard and defence of strategic importance objects, missions of ensuring the security of the base Camp Vilaggio Italia, including the Decane Monastery, as well as missions of engineering research and discovery of explosive objects.
The KFOR-9 contingent is made up of 41 servicemen, among whom one staff officer, seven sappers and one platoon of infantrymen.
Moldovan military have been involved in peacekeeping missions in Kosovo starting from 2003.
