All summer camps to be doublechecked in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, has called for investigation into cases of mass poisoning at a summer camp in Taraclia today. Related to it, PM has urgently ordered the creation of a working group, under aegis of Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS), which would determine circumstances that led to occurrence of intoxications, but also the persons in charge, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Also, the working group is to check all summer camps as to prevent similar cases. The working group includes representatives of MSMPS, Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), National Public Healthcare Agency (ANSP), National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) and General Police Inspectorate (IGP).
Meanwhile, the camp whith 98 children resting was closed, all children being sent home.
Following preliminary checks, specialists of ANSP have depicted that camp was functioning without sanitary authorisation. The experts have also identified several deviations from sanitary – epidemiological norms, including: poor water quality, lack of hygiene conditions, and the fact that not all employees have undergone prophylactic medical examinations.
Similarly, during preparations for summer season 2018, Cahul Public Healthcare Centre (CSPC) conducted topical trainings with camps directors, but the camp administration was missing.
On 23 – 25 June 2018, there were recorded over 30 cases of intoxication at children in summer camp. The outbreak epidemiological surveillance continues.
