Meeting of Moldova-Romania intergovernmental Commission for European Integration held in Bucharest

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ – The fifth session of Moldova – Romania Intergovernmental Commission for European Integration, co – chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova, Iurie Leanca, and Deputy Minister for European Affairs of Romania, Victor Negrescu, has taken place today in Bucharest, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Joint Commission is one of the key instruments puts into practice objectives of Strategic Partnership of Moldova and Romania for European integration, facilitating assistance, providing expertise and sharing experience and good practices with Moldova within implementation of EU regulations and standards.
The current issue of Commission meeting brought together high – ranking officials from 14 institutions of Moldova and Romania. In addition to traditional areas of its agenda, such as: legislative harmonisation, internal affairs, justice, prosecutor's office, training of magistrates, judicial cooperation, integrity, anti-discrimination, regional cooperation, agriculture, sanitary veterinary and food safety, there were discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation during the Romanian Presidency of EU Council, as well as deepening cross-border cooperation by promoting new projects related to priorities of EU Strategy for the Danube region.
The priorities, agreed within sectoral working groups of Commission, will focus on achieving as many results as possible for benefit of citizens and on supporting efforts to promote transformation agenda of Moldova. Also, in addition to promoting actions aimed at strengthening capacities of Moldovan institutions in implementing Moldova – EU Association Agreement and ensuring harmonization of national legislation with EU acquis, it will be paid an increased attention to ensuring mechanisms for implementing EU transposed standards and communication benefits for citizens.
The Commission next session is to be held in Chisinau.
