Three speakers pay joint visit to Washington

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, together with his counterparts from Georgia and Ukraine, pay a trilateral visit to the USA for the first time on 25 June-1 July to demand full and active US involvement in the region, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The three speakers will discuss the security risks generated by the unauthorized presence of Russian troops in the area, hybrid war, human rights, energy security in Eastern Europe and the reforms implemented by the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine in the European course of the three states.
This visit comes after the joint commitment to promoting security policies and reforms for the European integration of the three Eastern Partnership champions, assumed at the 2 March conference in Chisinau and institutionalized in Kiev by creating the interparliamentary Assembly of Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia.
The visit’s agenda includes meetings with Paul Ryan, speaker of the House of Representatives, US Congress, Senate Committee Members for External Relations, Friendship Groups at the US Congress for Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, and Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs A. Wess Mitchell. Also, there will be held public talks with experts and media from the Atlantic Council, the National Press Club and American Foreign Policy Council.
The three officials are accompanied by Viktoras Pranckietis, Lithuanian Parliament Speaker, and Adam Bielan, Deputy Speaker of the Polish Senate.
Last week, a resolution was passed in the US Congress in support of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, and the UN adopted the resolution requesting the Russian Federation to withdraw troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
