European Commission to send adviser in energy sector to Moldova

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will benefit from support by an adviser in the energy sector on behalf of the European Commission. The decision was taken by Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici and Vice President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, in charge of the Energy Union. The two officials had a meeting in the United States of America.
Maroš Šefčovič reiterated the need to diversify the sources of natural gas and electric energy, in order to ensure Moldova’s energy security, reads a press release by the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry. At the same time, the official said that Moldova should continue actions on the promotion and development of the renewable energy.
Also in the USA, Chiril Gaburici met representatives of the company Tesla, Rohan Patel and Chris Johnson. The minister invited the economic giant to come to Moldova. Representatives of the Tesla company said that they would analyze possibility to invest in Moldova.
The meetings took place during a working visit to the United States by a delegation of Moldova, led by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, on 25-26 June.
