US encourages Moldova to continue development according to Western model

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/- On the sidelines of his working visit to Washington, Prime Minister Pavel Filip met Chairman of the US Congress House of Representatives Edward Royce, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The premier reconfirmed Moldova’s commitment to continue the Moldovan-US strategic partnership, including interparliamentary diplomacy dimension.
The two officials exchanged views on the situation in neighboring Moldova and assessed the opportunities for bilateral cooperation to ensure stability and security in the region. In the context, the prime minister appreciated the importance of the resolution included on the agenda of the House of Representatives, through which the US Congress supports Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia in ensuring territorial integrity and political sovereignty.
The sides also discussed the Moldovan-Russian relations and efforts to combat Russian propaganda in Moldova.
The discussions focused on the ample reform process carried out in our country. The United States has encouraged the government to continue implementing the reform agenda to strengthen Moldova’s development path according to the Western model, including the fight against corruption and respect for the rule of law.
Also, Congressman expressed openness to as dynamic interaction between US and Moldovan companies, stressing the importance of ensuring an efficient legislative framework to facilitate investment and diversify bilateral economic relations.
