Campaign supporting torture victims to be organised in Chisinau

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Centre for Legal, Psychological and Rehabilitation Assistance of Torture Victims in Chisinau will participate within campaign for support of people which suffered from torture. Within the frames of the actions, several subdivisions of centre will sign a collaboration agreement with Ombudsman Office.
The campaign will be organized by Ombudsman Office on 25 – 29 June. The Centre employees will participate in flashmob of solidarity against torture, held in Chisinau on 26 June, at 20:30.
Also, the newly created centres in Chisinau, Tiraspol and Comrat will sign a collaboration agreement with Ombudsman Office. The document aims to implement actions to prevent the torture phenomenon in Moldova. Related to it, there will be made joint efforts to provide legal assistance to torture victims and their relatives. Similarly, it will be provided psychological counseling and there will be implemented several individual rehabilitation programmes.
The Centres for Legal, Psychological and Rehabilitation Assistance of Torture Victims are opened in the framework of project: Toti impreuna vom spune NU torturilor in Moldova: societatea civila impotriva torturii (All together we will say NO to torture in Moldova: civil society against torture), implemented by the Institute for Democracy (ID) (Comrat), in partnership with the National Institute of Women from Moldova (INFM) (Chisinau) and the Media Centre for Transnistria (CMT) (Transnistrian region), by EU support.

The project is implemented by EU financial support. Its coordinator is ID – a public organisation officially registered with the Ministry of Justice (MJ) of Moldova in January 2007.
