Moldovans working in Italy to receive higher pensions

Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - The decree by President Igor Dodon on the approval of the signing of the agreement between Moldova and Italy in the social security sector will be published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
Moldova and Italy initialed the agreement on ensuring citizens’ social rights in Rome on 16 May.
Under the document, to establish the right to pension, each state will enforce its own legislation in the field, proportionally to the period of insurance carried out on its territory. The pension will be exported to the person on the territory of the state in which he/she has the residence.
The agreement sees providing age limit pensions, survivor pension, disability pensions caused by usual diseases, disability pensions and allowances in the wake of labour accidents or caused by professional diseases.
The document’s stipulations will apply to people who were insured, in line with the legislation of both or one of the state parties to the agreement.
Official data shows that there are 140,000 Moldovan citizens in Italy.
