Moldovan parliament speaker says he felt USA's full support as never

Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ -  ”This visit is a historical one, taking into account the composition and format in which it is held, as it is meant to back the project on regional cooperation, launched in Chisinau along with Georgia and Ukraine, facing the challenges and risks we are confronting with, including the one dealing with security in relation with Russia. I am glad that we have been heard,” Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has said at an event organized by the American Foreign Policy Council of the U.S. Congress in Washington, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.   

Andrian Candu said that, during meetings held, he had received support messages for everything Moldova and the other states are doing to become EU members and states where the democratic values are at home.

”Today, I felt the support of the USA as never. We are encouraged to continue the cooperation we started in Chisinau between Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine. It will be easier for us to become members of the European Union one day by sharing the experience,” the parliament speaker said.   

Andrian Candu noted that this project was a good beginning to set the new interests and to identify solutions in the region, in order to diminish the influence of Russia, including on the dimension of fighting the propaganda, misinforming, liberation of the occupied territories and not in the least – the energy security. In this context, the USA’s full and active support is very important, the parliament speaker stressed. He specified that the resolutions to support Moldova of the U.S. Congress, as well as the last week vote at the UNO were political acts on the basis of which the subsequent actions of the American policy are formed. 

The three parliament speakers from Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, backed by the speaker from Lithuania and deputy parliament speaker from Poland, in Washington discuss security risks triggered by the unsanctioned presence of Russian troops in the region, hybrid war, human rights, energy security in eastern Europe, as well as the reforms implemented and the European integration of the three states.
