Citizens from left bank of Dniester can register in advance for parliamentary elections in Moldova

Chisinau, 03 July /MOLDPRES/ – The citizens of Moldova, which live in localities on left bank of the Dniester river, can register in advance to announce their intention to participate within upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to the CEC’s information and media communication service, the procedure is optional and aims to facilitate opening of polling stations for voters in localities on left bank of the Dniester river and determine estimated number of ballots to be distributed in polling stations.

The online sign-up can be done at https://register.cec.md/. The citizens can also register by written request, signed individually or in a group, and sent to CEC.

The voters may register in advance throughout the year, except for the last 45 days before election date. No later than 25 days prior election day, voter may cancel previous record.

Starting 2018, parliamentary elections are based upon mixed electoral system, which means that 50 MPs will be elected on basis of party lists in national constituency and 51 MPs will be elected on basis of uninominal constituencies, one MP for each constituency. There will be 48 uninominal constituencies on territory of Moldova, two of them for citizens of left bank of the Dniester river.
