Moldovan delegation to JCC replaced with new expert

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ – Under the chairmanship of Moldovan delegation, on 12 July 2018, the Joint Control Commission (CUC) was held in Bender city, which, according to agenda, discussed two topics, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.

On proposal of Chisinau delegation, CUC approved as a military observer Lieutenant Colonel, Ion Epure, and Permanent Expert, Viorel Cernauteanu, of the Reintegration Policy Bureau of the State Chancellery of Moldova.

Colonel Vitalii Morozov, Chief of Joint Force of Pacific Powers, reported last week situation in Security Zone (ZS), which was recognised as stable following the monitoring by the Joint Military Command (CMI).

During unordinary meeting of CUC headed by co-chairman of Russia, Ilia Uvarov, it was examined the issue of ensuring the security and free movement around the Dniester bridge between Gura Bacului and Bacioc localities. The discussions took place in the context of reasonable proposals offered by Russian delegation on 28 June 2018, which, after preliminary examination by delegations, representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission to Moldova were practically accepted by the majority of delegations, except for the Transnistrian delegation, without commenting proposals of Russian counterparts.

The Tiraspol exponents, during tense debates, confirmed that they resorted  strengthening of infrastructure of post of its structures near Bacioc village, just on the eve of the day when the traffic on this bridge was to be reopened. Thus, during preparations for bridge reopening, the Transnistrian representatives, without prior coordination with JCC, increased the number of "border guards, customs officers and migrant service". These unilateral actions contradict the agreements previously achieved within JCC and represent a definite proof that the Transnistrian delegation refuses to respect regime of ZS and commitments assumed in accordance with Commission decision №828 from 29 January 2015 – 13 January 2017.

In absence of consensus to sign a decision, delegations decided to continue consultations on the subject at next Commission meeting on 19 July 2018.
