The official exchange rate represents the price of the Moldovan leu against the currencies of other countries. The rate is calculated based on the exchange rates set by the banks licenced in transactions of purchase/sale of currencies carried out with their clients and with other banks. Thus, the official exchange rate shows the ratio between the demand and supply of currencies on the country’s currency market.
