Electronically monitored people from Moldova to return expenses in case of supervision equipment's deterioration

17:27 | 13.07.2018 Category: Social

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The people who are electronically monitored while under preventive home arrest will return the expenses in case of the supervision equipment’s deterioration, according to amendments published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) of Moldova today.

Under the document, if the person spoils the equipment and refuses to pay its cost, the National Probation Inspectorate will open a civil action in court for the return of the cost.

At the same time, if the obligation/restriction set is infringed or the electronic equipment is deteriorated, the probation adviser or, if appropriate, the specialized subdivision immediately informs the police body for the notification of the prosecutor and/or the court for replacing the preventive measure by a tougher one.

People under preventive home arrest or convicted persons, who move without escort or those who leave the penitentiary for a short period are subjected to electronic monitoring. The electronic system consists in the distance supervision of the location and movement of people subjected to control, through an electronic device.

The monitoring technologies are used to reduce the crowd of penitentiaries and for an easier social reintegration of people infringing the law.
