Works to construct Chisinau Arena to start in late next August

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The works of construction of the Chisinau Arena will start in the end of next August and will be carried out by a company from Turkey. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici and Education, Culture and Research Minister Monica Babuc made statements to this effect at a news conference today.

Chiril Gaburici said that the project on construction of Chisinau Arena was carried out according to the schedule established in last March. More exactly, 33 actions or 75 per cent out of 44 actions established by the working group have been already implemented and 11.4 are under implementation and completion. The works of cutting the trees on the area where the Arena is to be erected will start next week.

Monica Babuc said that a single company has expressed will to carry out the works of designing and construction of the Chisinau Arena. The selection commission analyzed the offer of this company and found out that it met all conditions put by the state.

”The company is from Turkey and has general experience in the constructions sector of at least three designing and construction projects carried out during 2013-2017, worth at least 30 million euros per one project. The company has experience in the construction of sports buildings,” Babuc said. According to the official, the company which has won the tender is also involved in the construction of sports complexes in Russia and Senegal.

”We are happy that the project will be carried out by a strong international company with experience in the field, a company which we know, which works in Moldova, knows the specific character of the market and which has proved through the already implementation projects that it is qualitative and professional,” Babuc noted.

In the next 30 days, the Education, Culture and Research Ministry will negotiate the contract with the Turkish company, which will deal with the construction of the Chisinau Arena.
