Moldovan well – known writer honoured at Academy of Sciences

Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/ – There took place at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova today an award ceremony dedicated to anniversary of 70 years since birth, of poet, prose writer and journalist, Nicolae Dabija, a correspondent member of ASM and honorary member of the Romanian Academy.
In his congratulatory message, president of ASM, academician Gheorghe Duca mentioned, among other things, that as a poet in 1975, head of "third eye" generation, writer, literary historian and political man Nicolae Dabija is a reference name of contemporary Romanian history, culture and literature in Moldova. He handed to him the medal "Meritul stiintific" (The scientific merit) of ASM.
Attending the event, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, said that the poetry of Nicolae Dabija was with us in the years of the national liberation and rebirth movement and the Declaration of Independence of Moldova. "Nicolae Dabija is in a way a symbol of our people. He burnt like a torch, bringing newspaper "Literatura si Arta" (Literature and art) to people. The simple and divine is brought to us by you. We will come with our love embodied in a performance at the National Palace, as we did with Grigore Vieru, Dumitru Matcovschi and Mihai Volontir," specified Monica Babuc, addressing to the celebrated.
At his turn, Academician Vladimir Hotineanu, chairman of the parliamentary commission on culture, education, research, youth, sports and mass media, pointed out that Nicolae Dabija "is one of the most important poets of this land, which was at the head of the national movement and reminded us that we are proud of this country." "Nicolae Dabija is a model of civic consciousness and true patriotism," also said Vladimir Hotineanu. He handed to writer medal "Democratia" (Democracy) of the Parliament of Moldova.
Academician Mihai Cimpoi referred to intellectual personality of Nicolae Dabija, mentioning that the writer made us aware of his volumes and articles. "Nicolae Dabija is a living proof that Bessarabia has not died and is not about to die. Through culture we will survive. The newspaper "Literature and Art" has more than one million views in the country," said academician Mihai Cimpoi.
According to the President of the Union of Writers of Moldova (USM), Arcadie Suceveanu, "Nicolae Dabija is the writer and intellectual which created an institution – "Literature and Art" – and which imposed a conscience of our identity." In the context, the literary critic from Husi, Romania, Theodor Codreanu mentioned that "Nicolae Dabija is an encyclopaedic writer in various fields and is continuation of the national and spiritual testament left by Grigore Vieru."
Writer Nicolae Dabija was born on 15 July 1948, in Codreni village, Cimislia district. In 1972 he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the State University of Moldova (USM). In 1975 he debuted with the volume of poems "Ochiul al treilea" (The third eye), followed by poetry books "Apa neinceputa" (Unstarted water), "Zugravul anonim" (Anonymous painter), "Aripa sub camasa" (Wing under the shirt), "Lacrima care vede" (The tear that sees), "Oul de piatra" (The egg of stone), "Cerul launtric" (Inside sky),"Taceri asurzitoare" (Defeating mischiefs), "Mierla domesticita" (The domesticated moth), "Fotograful de fulgere" (The lightning photographer),"Maraton printre gloante" (The marathon among bullets), "Psalmi de dragoste" (Psalms of love) etc.
He is a correspondent member of ASM, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters (L'Académie Européenne des Sciences, des Arts et des Lettres – ALESAL) with headquarters in Paris, laureate of the National Prize.
