Moldovan state to provide disadvantaged persons, families with financial assistance

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The disadvantaged people and families will receive financial assistance worth up to 6,000 lei on behalf of the state. The support will be provided in a single payment or monthly payment, for a definite period, but not longer than six months. The government today approved a decision on a framework regulation on the organization and work of the social service of financial support, meant for disadvantaged families/persons.   

Under the decision, the financial assistance will be offered for nourishment, clothes, essential objects or for the repair of the dwelling and/or repair/construction of the stove, dwelling’s adaptation to person’s needs. Also, the money could be used to buy fuel to cook meal and for heating in the cold season, purchase furniture adapted to the needs, as well as other necessities.  

The size of the assistance, purpose and period of providing the financial support will be established by the commission for the protection of people at risk, based on the needs identified and recommendation of the multidisciplinary team.  

The service will be implemented as of 1 July 2018 by specialists of the territorial services of social assistance and employees of the community social assistance service. To this end, about 14 million lei will be earmarked from the fund for residents’ support.
