Moldovan state to increase financial support for disadvantaged families, people

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The disadvantaged families and persons will benefit from financial support on behalf of the state to overcome difficulties they are facing. The cabinet today approved a framework regulation on the organization and work of the social service of financial assistance, meant for disadvantaged families and persons, which will be implemented starting from 1 July this year, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The financial assistance will be provided to beneficiaries for such needs as: food products, repair of dwelling or construction of stove, purchasing fuel for cooking meal and heating in the cold season, as well as the buying of needed furniture or clothes. The allocation will amount to 6,000 lei at the most and will be provided in a one-off payment or through monthly payments, but for a period no longer than six months.
The financial assistance service will be created within the territorial structure of social assistance and the commission for the protection of persons at risk will deal with selection of beneficiaries, as well as with the setting of the size of the financial support. Potential beneficiaries will be identified by the medical assistant, representatives of public authorities and NGOs or at a direct request by the disadvantaged person.
The financial support could be provided also to families benefiting from social assistance or support offered in the cold season of the year.
The state earmarked 14 million lei for the work of the service this year.
