Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - The public forum monuments will be systematized in a new national register, according to a today’s parliament decision.
The state secretary at the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Andrei Chistol, presented the legislative initiative in the parliament’s plenum. “The document’s goal is to make the inventory, keep the record and protect monuments. At the same time, the register will be used also to delimit the ground of the public forum monuments, work out plans of the zones of protection of monuments, with their registration in the cadastral database. In this way, these documentations will be used also for the elaboration of plans on arranging the territory and urban plans of Moldova’s settlements,” Chistol noted.
For his part, the head of the office of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Gheorghe Postica, stressed that the register presented a selection of the monuments earlier included in the register approved in 1993. “Thus, more monuments which no longer exist will be excluded from the document. This is the first stage of improving the policies of record of monuments, and the second stage, the making of the register of the war graves and works will follow,” Postica said.
During the discussions, more MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party and Liberal Party criticized the existence of Soviet monuments in the new register. On the other hand, the Socialist lawmakers urged that “the subject on the monuments with historical importance not be politicized.”
The monuments due to be included in this document are to be classified in the A category, according to the artistic and urban value, memorial and symbolical value and its age. The national register of public forum monuments implies a classified table according to the work’s code, address, settlement, name of the monument and its dating. The document does not need financial spending.
According to data by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, about 6,000 monuments are included in the register of public forum monuments from 1993; yet, during years, the number of monuments has decreased and it needs a re-evaluation.
