Two girls drowned in river of Moldova

Chisinau, 13 August /MOLDPRES/ – A 14 – year – old girl and a 12 – year – old one drowned on 12 August in the Prut river. The case took place in Lopatnic village, Edinet district.

Interviewed by agency, press officer of General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Liliana Puscasu, said that one of the bodies was recovered from the water by locals and and the other one was brought to surface by divers.

According to IGSU’s information and media communication service, the two girls and a friend were playing around the river. There have to be still established some other circumstances in which the drowning occurred .

According to IGSU’s data, since the beginning of 2018, there drowned 49 persons, out of which 11 are children.

The rescuers reiterated the warning and urged the population to swim only in aquatic basins set up with rescue stations and not to go deep. Also, the parents are asked to monitor strictly their children and not let them to swim without supervision.

Also, the employees of IGSU warn population not to drink alcohol when going to swim. And in case of emergencies, call emergency number 112.
