Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- Vehicle owners in the Transnistrian region will receive neutral plates and will be admitted to international traffic as of 1 September 2018, according to a draft law published today in the Official Journal of Moldova.

The document provides that means of transport, including trailers, motorcycles and bicycles with auxiliary engine will be able to obtain neutral registration plates for international traffic. They will be issued by the subdivisions of the Public Services Agency, at the offices opened in Bender and Ribnita, without payment of the import rights and without the mandatory presentation of the customs documents.

The means of transport owned by 24 April 2018, which are currently registered in the administrative-territorial units on the left bank of Nistru or Bender, may be registered. Owners will present confirmatory documents providing domicile and ownership, and a written statement on the applicant's own responsibility regarding the veracity of the information.

The legislative amendments stipulate that the means of transport registered under these provisions can be sold to people residing in the localities on the left bank of Dniester or Bender or legal entities carrying out entrepreneurial activity in the administrative districts on the left bank of Dniester and Bender without paying import duties.

If the means of transport are alienated to people residing in the localities on the right bank of the Dniester River, the registration of the new owner shall be made provided that the means of transport is not prohibited from being set in Moldova and paying import duties.

The decision on the participation in the international road traffic of vehicles from the Transnistrian region was signed on 24 April 2018 by the political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol in negotiations for the Transnistrian settlement.

Also, the issue includes the presidential decree on promulgation of this law.

The government, within one month from the publication of the amendments in the Official Journal, is to approve the registration procedure of vehicles covered by this law.
