Moldovan PM states priority №01 to be persons, related to explosion in Chisinau sector

Chisinau, 07 October /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, convened this morning the Emergency Situations Commission (CSE) as to discuss the explosion in Rascani sector of Chisinau municipality. On behalf of Government, the PM expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased ones, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
According to the IGSU's information and media communication service, the deflagration occurred in an apartment on the sixteenth floor of the building. There were affected apartments on floors 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18. The rescuers found on the fourteenth floor the inanimate bodies of a man and a child. According to IGSU, 09 residents and 1 fireman suffered and were transported to the hospital. Out of the 09 persons, 01 died on 06 October night. The life of firefighter is out of danger. According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), other persons could also be under the rubble, as there are missing persons.
The Chisinau city hall officials say that around 200 persons lived in the block. Some of the evacuees went to relatives and friends. 20 persons were accommodated at the Holy Trinity Hospital in Chisinau municipality.
"The priority №01 is the medical support of the ones which have been injured, and another priority is to provide temporary living places for those who have been left homeless. I remember the visit to the Railroad Hospital. Maybe there is not an emergency hospital, but there are rehabilitation wards, where there are all the conditions to provide food on time, and all the other services that a family needs," said PM at the meeting.
Pavel Filip asked the officers for an assessment of the state of the building. "We have to make a technical expertise of the block to understand what needs to be done and what are the possibilities to prevent the reconstruction, strengthening of this block – of – flats. On the other hand, it is necessary to carry out controls to prevent other crisis situations like that, which then turn into tragedies," specified PM.
Also, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers called for damages estimation and demanded that, as needed, to be granted financial aid to those which have suffered. "I want to thank all employees of IGSU, IGP, which have intervened and done their duties. I have also seen persons which have offered and given the necessary help, some of them even took home the ones which were left homeless overnight. Once again it is a proof of solidarity and I thank them very much to all the ones involved", rounded up PM.
