Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting of the working groups for education, in experts’ format, took place in Tiraspol today, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

While taking into account that the right to education is inherent to any child, Chisinau proposed to revise the stage of implementation of the protocol decision on the work of the Latin-script schools, signed in late 2017.

After a discussion with the headmasters of the Latin-script schools and comparing the data collected, the Moldovan side insisted, in the negotiating process, that some  of the commitments taken had not been fulfilled by Tiraspol; or Chisinau clearly asked to revise the tariffs for water, sewerage and thermal energy similar to the tariffs of other schools from the region.

At an initiative by Chisinau, an important subject was the tackling of the issue of free movement of pupils, their parents and teachers, without preliminary notification. This initiative was proposed by the political representative on behalf of Moldova, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic during a visit to Moldova by OSCE Special Representative Franco Frattini in last mid-September.

According to the aforementioned initiative, those 1,500 pupils from the Latin-script schools must move freely, be excluded from the political context, be concerned about education and the notification system should not be applied against them.

Today, Chisinau reiterated this initiative to the Transnistrian side and insisted on the fact the settlement of this problem was procrastinated.

An important aspect regarded the applications and petitions received from parents of pupils and teachers of the above-mentioned schools, in order to intervene in situations concerning the carriage of goods and books, as well as approaching certain incidents.

Among the topics discussed, there were also subjects on apostillizing and super-legalizing, results of inspections and anti-fire protection systems, adjacent headquarters of the buildings due to be made available for use.

The efforts made by the Moldovan side are aimed at tackling the entire wide spectrum of subjects, due to allow a good work of schools, meant to create a friendly environment for education and choosing the own language of study for any child.
