Chisinau, 08 November /MOLDPRES/ – The landholders will be required to take measures to combat and prevent the spread of weeds. A draft amendment to the Code of land (CF) and Code of conduct (CC) was adopted in the first reading by Legislature today.
The draft provides for fines of up MDL 1,500, for individuals, and up MDL 6,000 for legal persons. The fines will be applied by the Environment Protection Inspectorate (IPM).
The regulations also establish powers for Government to develop land protection measures, including combating and preventing the spread of weeds. Also, the district and municipal councils, as well as village and town councils, will exercise control over the use and protection of the land.
According to authors, amendments to legislation aim to reduce the negative effects on the health of population caused by several weeds, including ambrosia, declared by the experts of the European Commission "a dangerous species for health".
