Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - The pensions lower than 1,589 lei will be increased by ten per cent starting from the next year. The leader of Moldova’s Democratic Party (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc, made statements to this effect at the end of PDM’s weekly meeting today.
According to Plahotniuc, such increases will take place annually, additionally to the indexation made traditionally by the authorities in April.
„Due to the efficiency of the present governance and the good economic growth this year, we have possibility to increase not only the salaries, but also the pensions. That is why, today we ruled that, starting from 1 January 2019, a wide category of pensioners will receive higher pensions,” Plahotniuc said.
The PDM leader noted that he would ask the government to make such increases in pensions at least once per year.
„In this way, the programmes Good Salaries for Moldova and Good Pensions for Moldova will continue next years as well, so that people live better,” Plahotniuc added.
The PDM management has earlier said that, as of 1 December 2018, about 200,000 budgetary employees would benefit from increases in salaries between 20 and 90 per cent.
