Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a decision on starting negotiations on a draft agreement with the government of Romania for the creation of a deep economic integration area in the electronic communications sector. The agreement sees gradual exclusion of the payment for the roaming services between the two countries.
The document also stipulates a string of activities facilitating the creation of a single social, educational, cultural and entrepreneurial space between the two states. An important factor which facilitates the communication between people is a decision by the two governments to provide to the citizens of their states, in the same conditions, access and use of modern electronic communication means.
The agreement clearly and exhaustively establishes the normative framework for the gradual diminution, by capping, during three years, of the wholesale tariffs of access for the roaming services given by Moldova and Romania, removing the roaming payment for the calls made in roaming to the networks of the origin country, as well as for the calls received in roaming and the SMS messages sent and received in roaming.
The agreement’s enforcement will allow making calls to phone numbers of the visited country at the tariff applied in the origin country on this purpose (tariff for the call from Moldova to Romania or from Romania to Moldova), without the payment of roaming services.
The document’s goal is to create an area of deep economic integration in the electronic communications field between Romania and Moldova, mainly, through the introduction of a joint approach, in order to guarantee that the users of public networks of mobile communications who travel between Romania and Moldova do not pay excessively high prices for the roaming services in the visited state against the national competitive prices.
