Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ – The first show of performance: Miss Liberty – Ultimul Madrigal by Mircea M. Ionescu, directed by Elemer Kincses (Romania) was presented 22 November evening in Chisinau by the National Theatre Mihai Eminescu and Targu – Mures National Theatre (Company Liviu Rebreanu).
Interviewed by agency, the Chişinău national director, Petru Hadarca, mentioned that ten actors from the two theatres play, including six – from Targu – Mures and four – from Chisinau.
"It is the first such project organised in Chisinau and it is dedicated to the Centenary of the Union. The show was performed within project: Romanian – Bassarabian Theatre Festival 10X10, the idea of which came during the Romanian National Theatre Meeting. The play tells the stories of ten characters who meet at the end of the Queensboro Bridge in New York, a tough reality of the emigrants which left for a better life," said Petru Hadarca.
At his turn, director Elemer Kincses of Targu – Mures said that although they had different theatre schools, the actors in the two cities formed an integral team, so it was not different from Chisinau and from Targu – Mures. "He combined his talent and his friendship. The song's message is very actual. In this fierce battle to survive, it is very hard to stay human. It requires a huge effort, and these very different people – Cuban, Bessarabian, Vietnamese, Hungarian – use these honest weapons – humanity and courage. In December, we will play the performance in Alba – Iulia and Targu – Mures, and then in Bucharest and other cities," said Elemer Kincses.
According to theatre critic Larisa Turea, literary secretary of the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre, the show tackles the issues of migration. "It is a miniature painting of contemporary society, because under this American bridge there are representatives of many nations who have fallen prey to illusions, believing it would be better where we are not. But in the land of all its possibilities, they face more problems," said Larisa Turea.
The cast includes: Cristian Iorga (Poet), Dan Melnic (Ghost), Petru Hadarca (Policeman), Anatol Durbala (Negro), Luchian Pantea (Cuban), Liviu Pancu (Small – eyes), Csaba Ciugulitu (Boxer), Diana Decuseara (Blonde), Alexandru Pavel (Skier) and Ale Tifrea (Shape of Statue of Liberty).
