Romania marks National Day

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/- Today is the national day of Romania. On 1 December 2018 is the 100th anniversary of the unification of Transylvania, Banat, Crisana and Maramures with Romania.
1 December was proclaimed the National Day of Romania in 1990, being first celebrated in the same year in Alba Iulia. Since then, every year, in Bucharest and in most cities around the country, military parades take place and numerous ceremonies are held.
This year's military parade in Bucharest is attended by 26 officers and non-commissioned officers of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova, alongside troops from Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Slovakia, the USA, Turkey and Ukraine. Moldova participates in the 1st December military parade in Romania since 2014.
Romania was the first state to recognize the independence of the Republic of Moldova only a few hours after proclaiming the independence of the new state (August 27, 1991).
Diplomatic relations at the embassy level were established on 29 August 1991. The Embassy of Romania was the first diplomatic representation opened by a state in the capital of the Republic of Moldova, in Chisinau (started its activity on January 20, 1992). The first Romanian ambassador was accredited in Chisinau in June 1993. The first ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bucharest was accredited in January 1992.
During a telephone conversation, Prime Minister Pavel Filip congratulated Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, and thanked for the constant support given to our country.
At a reception organized yesterday evening in Chisinau on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, Ambassador Daniel Ionita said that Romania was, is and will remain the strongest supporter of Moldova’s European integration.
“Economically, we are aiming for a record 2 billion dollars of bilateral trade by the end of this year, and this year the Romanian Investors Association was set up as a vehicle to promote Romanian business in Moldova. In terms of culture, continued the soul projects such as the meeting of Romanian national theaters or Bookfest, music and film festivals," he said.
According to the official, due to the assistance provided by the Romanian state, 840 kindergartens have been renovated in Moldova, and 3 million have been allocated for other 200 projects.
At present, 1,765 enterprises with Romanian capital are operating in Moldova. The investments in the share capital amounted to almost 2 billion lei. Romania ranks 1st in the number of enterprises in which it made investments.
In 2017, foreign trade between the Republic of Moldova and Romania amounted to about 1,295.15 million dollars (+ 21.7% compared to the same period of 2016). Romania has reconfirmed its position as the main trading partner of our country, ranked first in exports, with a share of 24.77% (600.62 million dollars) of total Moldovan exports, as well as imports, with a share of 14.38% (694.53 million dollars) of total Moldovan imports. Export volume increased in 2017 by 17.07% compared to 2016 and imports by 25.93%.
