Switzerland backs signing by Moldova of Free Trade Agreement with European Free Trade Association member states

Chisinau, 6 December /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi today had a meeting with the state secretary at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Pascale Baeriswyl, during which the officials discussed aspects of deepening the bilateral and multilateral political dialogue, as well as the cooperation in terms of security and trade.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service, the Moldovan diplomacy head thanked the Swiss official for the solid support provided to Moldova through the Cooperation Strategy in key sectors for the flourishing and well-being of the Moldovan citizens. “The projects implemented with the support of the Swiss Confederation in the fields of education, health and developing entrepreneurial capacities represent a valuable contribution to strengthening trust between the two banks of Dniester, and in this respect, Switzerland is an important partner as to the backing of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Moldova,” Tudor Ulianovschi said.
The state secretary welcomed the dynamic development of the Moldovan-Swiss relations. He confirmed the Swiss authorities’ willingness to deepen the dialogue with Moldova on the dimensions of security, fighting hybrid attacks, as well as through the light of cultural projects and those meant for Moldova’s Diaspora.
Pascale Baeriswyl reiterated the support of the Swiss Confederation for achieving the goal of signing the Free Trade Agreement with the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, which will significantly contribute to increasing the bilateral commercial exchanges, attracting of investments in the IT, pharmaceutical, agricultural sectors, etc.
Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Tudor Ulianovschi participates in a yearly meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, held in Milan, Italy, on 6-7 December.
