Moldova, Qatar sign cooperation agreement in education

Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi and Minister of Education and Higher Education of Qatar Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in education, higher education and scientific research between the government of Moldova and of Qatar.

According to the MAEIE’s press service, the document sees that the sides will encourage universities, research institutes and public and private institutions in both countries to cooperate in higher education, scientific research and technology through partnership projects within international cooperation programs funded by international agencies and organizations.

Academic recognition rules and exchange of information on certificates and diplomas issued by educational institutions, as well as specific academic programs in both countries will be set out.

The two officials also approached the cooperation on use of information and communication technology (ICT) in education, as well as the possibility to carry out investment projects for education and research system of the Republic of Moldova.

In this context, the Qatari official referred to the opportunity to organize a specialized thematic event, sponsored by World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE Forum), a Qatar-based education forum, to discuss joint initiatives for vocational education development, projects to implement e-learning module (digital education), and public-private investment in education, especially universities and schools.

Ulianovschi thanked for scholarships offered by Doha authorities to Qatar University.
