Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ – The first batch of apples produced in Moldova was sent to Israel today.
This is the result of last-minute negotiations of the Moldova Fruct Producers and Exporters Association, and the apples were produced by a local company, an association member.
Interviewed by agency, Executive Director of Moldova Fruct Association, Iurie Fala, explained that this is the first batch of about 20 tonnes of apples exported to Israel, but there are several demands.
"The Moldovan apples are becoming more and more demanded. We have dispatched production in Oman, now in Israel, and in the future we have several contracts with customers in the Middle East, India, possibly Egypt, etc. We are talking about new markets and there are all the prerequisites to affirm within them," said Iurie Fala.
"We are confident that the apples will meet the expectations of buyers, because the Moldova Fruct members produce the highest quality fruits, as confirmed by the food safety authorities in our country as well as in the exporting countries", quoted the source.
The exploitation of the new markets for fruit in Moldova is supported by project: Performant Agriculture for Moldova and the US Agency for International Development. "In Moldova we know to grow very good agricultural production, but there are still gaps in the image, promotion of goods, other marketing and efficient management issues. In these directions, we have a great support, with tangible results from the development partners," specified Iurie Fala.
