Ice maintains on several routes in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 January /MOLDPRES/ – Several routes in Moldova maintain ice, with traffic being provided in winter conditions. The road workers monitor dangerous sectors and intervene if necessary.

The head of the operational service of the State Road Administration (ASD), Sergiu Capatina, said that last night there were registered weak snowfalls in the northern zone of Moldova.

"The workers carried out patrolling and fighting the slide. In total, there were involved 27 special vehicles and 132 workers. The road workers have used over 287 tonnes of anti – skidding material," said Capatina.

Interviewed by agency, the press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP), Natalia Golovco, said that drivers are urged to increase the distance between cars during ice. "Also, the patrol inspectors recommend drivers to avoid dangerous maneuvers, check the condition of brakes, equip the vehicle with winter tyres, anti – skid chains, shovel, scraper and sandbag. In the same way, the pedestrians are warned to use only the signalling crossings after a thorough insurance," said Golovco.

In upcoming days, the weather warms up slightly. At night, the thermometres will indicate up to – 09ºC in the north of Moldova, and the day will record up to + 04ºC in the south. It will snow in isolated areas of Moldova.
