Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - Goods carriers will be able to preliminarily reserve the time of crossing the border. This will be possible starting the second half of 2019. At the first stage, the system will be applied in testing regime at the Leuseni and Sculeni border checkpoints, which record most crossings by lorries.
The principle of work of the new system will be similar to those applied in more European states. Decision-makers estimate that the preliminary programming will substantially reduce the crowds and will ease the traffic. The application could be accessed by computer, tablet or phone.
The new application will be implemented by the Customs Service, with the financial support of the USAID Structural Reforms in Moldova Programme (SRM Programme). Director of the Customs Service Vitalie Vrabie and the director of the SRM Programme, Douglas Muir, discussed procedures due to be carried out.
At the first stage, the Customs Service will benefit from methodological assistance of a SRM Programme expert, which is to set the technical needs, assisting also for working out the task notebook.
According to the Customs Service, the TIR-EPD application will soon become functional, which will allow preliminary declaration of the transit for the holders of TIR cards.
