Moldovan electoral body informs about start of printing ballot papers for republican consultative referendum

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today informed about the starting of printing the ballot papers for the republican consultative referendum, due on 24 February. The first copies will be distributed to the polling stations from abroad.
According to CEC, the ballot papers are printed at the Central Printing House from Chisinau.
Under a decision earlier approved by CEC, the paper of the ballot papers will be dull. The text: “Do you agree with the cutting of the number of MPs from 101 to 61?” will be printed on one ballot paper of the yellow pale colour. The text: “Do you agree with the people being able to recall (dismiss) lawmakers from office, if they fail to properly fulfill their duties?” will be printed on another ballot paper of the yellow beige colour.
The price of a ballot paper for the republican consultative referendum is of 0.1360 lei and the cost of all the copies planned – 134,000 lei.
As many as 990,600 ballot papers will be printed and distributed to the polling stations from abroad, of which 181,700 in the Russian language.
In all, about two million ballot papers will be printed for the polling stations from abroad at the parliamentary polls and consultative referendum due on 24 February. As many as 1,617,800 copies of all ballot papers will be in the Romanian language and 363,400 copies – in Russian. CEC will send the ballot papers three days ahead of the elections at the latest. Each polling station will have up to 5,000 ballot papers available.
A number of 125 polling stations were set up outside Moldova for the parliamentary elections and republican consultative referendum due on 24 February.
