Moldovan parliament holds first plenary meeting of spring session

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/- MPs had today first plenary meeting of the spring session.
Eight projects were included on the agenda, including several related to appointment of heads of state institutions, the draft law on providing single support to pension beneficiaries and state social allowances, a bill on child allowances and a draft decision on the audit of the technical assistance project on reconstruction of the Moldovan presidency building.
Under the Regulations, the parliament convenes in two ordinary sessions a year. The spring session starts in February and cannot exceed the end of July. The autumn session starts in September and cannot be more than the end of December.
The parliamentary term of the 20th legislature expired on 30 November 2018. According to the Constitution, the mandate of the parliament is prolonged until the legal meeting of the new composition. During this period, parliament may adopt ordinary laws, decisions, may hold hearings, consultations and perform parliamentary control.
