Reintegration policy bureau head meets representatives of US embassy

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/- Head of the Reintegration Policy Bureau Marian Gherman had a meeting with advisor of the US Embassy in Moldova Piotr Picz on 7 February.

Marian Gherman made a retrospective of the developments in the Transnistrian settlement negotiations, and noted the progress made in the last period, some achievements in the previous year, Chisinau's approaches to negotiations and the fact that in the dialogue with Tiraspol the Moldovan side relies on the parallel solution of the problems included in the three baskets of the negotiation process agenda.

Also, Gherman drew attention to the indispensability of continued monitoring and optimal management of security issues, noting that the Moldovan side is concerned about the recent provocative actions of Tiraspol (the so-called acts signed by Tiraspol leader that Varniţa village and some localities in Dubasari are under the temporary control of Moldova, opening of an alleged representative of Transnistria in Moscow), urges international actors in the 5 + 2 negotiation format to intervene promptly, while expressing gratitude to US partners for messages supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

The US diplomat thanked for the opportunity to have an interactive dialogue, and pointed out the confidence in strengthening and developing existing cooperation, and providing continued support from US authorities to promote projects in the interests of people on both banks of the Dniester River and supporting the Transnistrian settlement process.
